CHURCHILL — The Manhattan Christian boys basketball team finally celebrated its Class C boys basketball state championship on Tuesday.
Following a school-wide assembly congratulating the team and players, students flocked outside to form a tunnel and send the Eagles off to parade their trophy around town in style.
The team boarded a firetruck and rode around Churchill, stopping at places in the community where fans were waiting, and was happy to show off some hardware.
“Our community is great,” senior Caleb Bellach said. “You saw how many fans we had in MetraPark, and then there were a bunch of people around here just watching it on TV and stuff. To hear all the comments, it’s awesome.”
