Billings West caps big weekend with win over Eastern AA-leading Great Falls High

BILLINGS – Here come the Billings West boys.

Josh Erbacher scored a game-high 21 points, while Jesse Owens and Cade Tyson chipped in 14 each, as the Bears handed Great Falls High its first Eastern AA loss of the year Saturday, 64-61.

The Bison took a five-point lead late in the first quarter, until Tyson banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to close the gap to 19-17. West then took a one-point lead at half, 29-28.

The Bears’ offense came alive in the third, scoring 21 points in the quarter to take a 50-45 lead in the final eight minutes, where they held on for the key win.

Sophomore Drew Wyman led the Bison with 21 points as well, while Blake Thelen added 15.

The loss snaps a seven-game winning streak for Great Falls, as the Bison fall to 11-2 overall and 6-1 in conference. West is now second in the Eastern AA at 5-2 after beating Great Falls CMR on Friday.
