BUTTE – Billings Senior and Butte High’s boys basketball squads met at the Butte Civic Center Friday night. The Bulldogs were looking for their first conference win, while the Broncs were looking for their first overall win.
Early in the first, Senior came out ready to shoot the lights out, and that’s exactly what they did. Junior Bergen and company made light work of Butte’s 2-3 zone and jumped out to an early lead. At half, Butte trailed 35-25 with no signs of offense in sight. For a team that was lacking serious depth, things started to click midway through the third. Clay Ferguson was all over the court making plays for the Bulldogs, and at one point early in the fourth the Bulldogs cut Senior’s lead to just three.
However, that would be as close as Butte would get, as the Broncs held on to win their first game of the year by a final of 67-61.
