MISSOULA – The No. 1 team in the MTN Sports Class AA coaches boys basketball poll proved it deserves that ranking yet again on Thursday night. Missoula Hellgate ran past Helena Capital, 70-51.

The Bruins came into the night with one of the stingiest defense in Class AA, giving up only 50 points per game. Hellgate passed that total in the third quarter. The Knights held a double-digit advantage throughout the second half, cruising to a second Western AA conference victory.

Hellgate improves to 2-0 in league and 6-1 overall. Capital falls to 0-2 in league, 3-5 overall. Hellgate will travel to Helena High for another conference showdown on Saturday afternoon. Capital also plays Helena for its next game, tipping off a crosstown rivalry next Thursday, Jan. 17.
