Missoula Hellgate pulls away from Frenchtown, 48-29

MISSOULA – The No. 1 team in the MTN Sports Class AA coaches poll got out to a slow start in its first game after a long holiday break. But Missoula Hellgate still stayed in control all night against Class A challenger Frenchtown on Tuesday.

The Knights won 48-29 to improve to 5-1. The Broncs fall to 6-3.

Both teams got out to a very slow start. Hellgate led 8-2 at the end of the first quarter, and the Knights extended the lead to 22-8 by halftime. The pace picked up in the third quarter, and Hellgate extended the lead to 36-16.

Hellgate will host a Western AA conference clash versus Helena Capital on Thursday night. Frenchtown gets back on the floor Friday versus Ronan.
