BUTTE  – On Tuesday night, both the Belgrade boys and girls basketball teams made the trip to the MAC Center for a pair of Class A games against Butte Central.

First, the girls hit the hardwood, and this game really stayed neck and neck, both teams exchanging basket after basket. Butte Central’s Tricia Joyce continued to be a leader in every aspect for the Maroons. She, along with freshman Sophie Thatcher, had a couple good looks from beyond the arc that fell. For Belgrade, it was Gabby Weber contributing the most. The Lady Panthers would roll on to be victorious in this one by a final of 48-41.

The boys game was not nearly as close. Belgrade struggled to develop a rhythm on offense due to great Butte Central defense. When Belgrade did find the net, it was off nice baseline cuts that gave way for Easton Page and Cooper VanLuchene to collect some easy baskets. For the Maroons, it was a total team effort, but Cade Holter continued to dominate and Butte Central won handily by a final score of 65-41.
