BOZEMAN – The Bozeman Hawks dominated their home opener, taking down Helena High, 70-50, on Friday night. There were big question marks surrounding the Hawks this season, but they seem to be putting concerns to rest early.
Bozeman lost nearly its entire starting lineup from last year — Mack Anderson went to play for the Griz, Robbie Simpson signed on with Eastern Oregon for basketball and track, and Latrell McCutcheon moved on to Minot State for football. But the new seniors stepped up for the Hawks.
Ryan Lonergan led the way for Bozeman with a game-high 22 points on 10 of 18 shooting. He also added three rebounds. Meanwhile, another towering senior, Ryan Simpson, added on 15 points and seven boards.
Pierce Brown paced the Bengals with 19 points, while shooting 5-9 from beyond the arc.
Bozeman is back in action as they visit Helena Capital Saturday Dec. 8 at 4:30 p.m.
