Eastern AA: Bozeman, Billings West claim divisional titles

GREAT FALLS – The Eastern AA basketball championships were set on Saturday at the CMR Fieldhouse.

The boys matchup featured No. 3 Bozeman and No. 1 Great Falls High. Bozeman came away with a 60-44 victory. The Hawks came out hot behind Carter Ash, who led all scorers with 18 points, and Ryan Lonergan who had 14 points and added three blocks. Great Falls High was led by Drew Wyman with 12 points.

Bozeman heads to the State AA tournament in Butte as the No. 1 seed and will face Helena High in the first round at 10:30 a.m. on March 7. Great Falls High will be the No. 2 seed and will face Missoula Sentinel in the first round at 3:30 p.m.

BILLINGS WEST 53, BUTTE 35

The Billings West girls basketball team is heading to state as the No. 1 seed out of the East with a 53-35 victory over Butte in the Eastern AA divisional championship game.

TyLee Manuel was all over the floor for the Bears. The senior led all scorers with 25 points and grabbed six rebounds. Shayla Montague finished with 11 points. Butte’s Ally Cleverly finished with 15 points.

West will face Kalispell Glacier in the first round of the State AA tournament in Butte on March 7 at 1:30 p.m. Butte will be the No. 2 seed out of the East and faces Helena High in the first round at 6:30 pm.
