Coeur D’Alene Vikings shoot past Missoula Big Sky Eagles, 81-61

MISSOULA – Coeur D’Alene’s two-day trip to Missoula started with a red-hot shooting performance. The Vikings swished their way past the Missoula Big Sky Eagles on Thursday night, 81-61.

The Vikings came out on fire from behind the arc, building a 20-7 lead in the first quarter. The advantage was 25-13 going into the second. Then Big Sky made a run to cut the lead down to six. But the Vikings extended the lead in the final minutes to lead 44-26 at the break.

Coeur D’Alene held a comfortable lead throughout the second half. Mayson Whittaker led the Vikings with 17 points. Overall, six Vikings scored in double figures. Camdyn Larance led Big Sky with 20 points.

The Vikings stay in Missoula to battle the unbeaten Missoula Hellgate Knights at 7:15 Friday night. Big Sky next takes the floor on Jan. 8 versus the Kalispell Glacier Wolfpack.
