Manhattan Christian runs away with 2nd MontanaSports.com Class C all-sports championship

Manhattan Christian ran to state championships in girls track and field and boys cross country — plus the Eagles captured both boys and girls golf titles in 2017-18 — so when we added up the results from the entire school year, the MontanaSports.com Class C all-sports championship race wasn’t close.

We gather the results for every Montana High School Association-sanctioned sport. State champions receive 10 points, second place gets seven points, third takes six points, and so on, with schools earning one point for an eighth-place finish.

Manhattan Christian finished with a whopping 56 points during the 2017-18 school year. Second-place Ennis finished with barely half of the Eagles’ total with 29. In contrast, Manhattan Christian held off Belt by a single point for the all-sports title last year.

Great Falls Central wound up in third place. Westby-Grenora and Scobey rounded out the top five.

Many schools had reasons to cheer during the Class C season. Forty-six schools finished top eight in at least one sport, earning at least one point in our standings.
