BILLINGS – The defending State AA softball champions are heading back to the state tournament.
No. 5-seed Great Falls CMR defeated No. 4-seed Billings West on the road in a best-of-three playoff series on Wednesday. The Rustlers prevailed in two close games, winning 7-6 in the first contest and 3-1 in the second. West had defeated CMR in all three previous meetings this season.
Junior pitcher Madi Moore was a huge reason for the Rustler victories. She struck out 14 batters in Game 1 and 10 in Game 2.
CMR will now head to the state tournament in Helena on May 24-26. Billings West’s season is now over.
