Forsyth boys, Colstrip girls take District 3B titles

BAKER — The Forsyth boys held off Colstrip, while the Colstrip girls ran away from Baker to each claim the District 3B track and field titles in Baker on Saturday afternoon.

Forsyth won 12 events on the boys side contributing to its 187 points, while Colstrip managed 138.5. The Dogies were led by Cade and Paul Johnstone. Cade Johnstone won the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter dashes in 11.53, 22.64 and 51.62 seconds.

Paul Johnstone also won three individual events, winning the 800-meter run and both the long and triple jump. Paul won the 800 in 2 minutes, 4 seconds, while leaping 20 feet, 5 inches in the long jump and 41 feet, 1 1/2 inches in the triple jump.

Caleb Knoche also posted a pair of wins for the Dogies in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. Knoche finished the 110s in 16.3 and the 300s in 43.3. Both Johnstone twins and Knoche were also members of Forsyth’s 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams that were crowned district champions.

Colsrip’s girls team ran away from the rest of the competition using their depth, finishing with an astounding 210 points. While Baker’s Wrenzi Wrzesinski won five individual events (100, 200, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump), Colstrip’s Abigail Dudley claimed a victory in the 400 along with second-place finishes in the 200 and 800.

The Fillies also swept the distance races and both relays. Whitney Hanson won the 800 in 2:34.78 and the 1,600 in 5:46.02. Hanson is currently ranked second in Class B in the 800 and third in the 1,600.

Other winners for Colstrip included Chasitie Rollins in the discus and Trinity Lewandowski in the high jump. Colstrip claimed four of the five places in the high jump.
