LAMBERT — Haylie Conradsen won three individual events and placed runner-up in two more, as the Savage girls held off Kinley Peterson and Westby-Grenora for the District 2C championship on Tuesday.

Conradsen, the sensational sophomore, hit personal bests in four of her five events, helping the Warriors to 121 points on the day. Conradsen won the long jump, javelin and 100-meter hurdles, while placing second in the 300-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash. Her 17.27 in the 100 hurdles won the race, while pushing her to No. 9 in Class C in the event this season. Her 49.55 in the 300 hurdles, second behind Westby-Grenora’s Jenna Rust, was also a PR and also ranks ninth in the class.

Conradsen threw 111 feet, 4 inches to win the javelin and soared 15-06 1/2 in winning the long jump. Savage’s Kiana Miller won the shot put competition with a toss of 35-06 1/2. The mark was a personal best for the junior and pushed her to No. 4 in Class C.

Peterson won four events for the Thunder of MonDak, helping Westby-Grenora to 94 team points and the runner-up finish. The senior won the 100 (13.13), 200 (27.07), 400 (59.57) and 800 (2 minutes, 26.30 seconds) in a grueling day. She also ran anchor on the Thunder’s second-place 400-meter relay team.

Peterson owns Class C’s and Montana’s fastest 400 time this season, 58.82, and her 2:23.58 in the 800-meter run is the top mark in Class C this spring. Her season-bests also rank fourth in the 100 (12.94) and seventh in the 200 (26.91).

Rust won the 300 hurdles in 48.76, a personal best, and high jump (4-10), while placing second in the discus and third in the 400.

Bainville’s Bonny Krogedal won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, scoring all 20 of the team’s points.

Richey-Lambert blew the boys’ team race open, winning eight events on Tuesday. Junior Casey Cayer won the long jump and triple jump, placed second in the 100 and fifth in the 200. Cayer’s 19-09 3/4 in the long jump was nearly two feet off his personal best of 21-03, the second-best mark in the class this season, but was good enough for the top spot on the podium. He also reached 41-04 to win the triple jump.

Cayer’s teammate Bryce Reitz won the 400 (53.32) and captured third-place honors in the 100 and 200. He also ran on each relay team, lifting the Fusion to first-place finishes.

But Richey-Lambert dominated the distance races, placing the top three spots in the 800. Junior Seth Prevost won the event in 2:13.15, but his teammates Samuel Smith and Chase Brown were next to cross the finish line. Freshman Nick Ellerton placed fifth.

Smith, also a freshman, returned the favor in the 1,600, winning the race in 4:54.50, just ahead of Brown. Smith also won the 3,200 in 10:49.18.

Other winners Tuesday included Fairview’s Carson Cayko, who swept the hurdles, and Culbertson’s Carter Nickoloff, who won all three throwing events. Nickoloff currently ranks No. 7 in Class C in the javelin with a season-best toss of 157.
