LAUREL – A trio of star performances highlighted the 2018 Al Walker Memorial Stillwater Invite Saturday at the Laurel Sports Complex.
Joliet’s Rylan Olson won three field events to lead the J-Hawks to the team championship. Olson won the high jump, long jump, and triple jump titles – the latter in a new personal record of 43 feet, 2 inches. That puts Olson second in Class B behind Forsyth’s Paul Johnstone (43-09).
Olson also ran the anchor leg on Joliet’s second-place 1,600-meter relay team to rack up 38 of the J-Hawks’ 87 points.
Big Timber finished second with 78 team points, thanks to another huge day from Casey Gunlikson. The junior won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles races, and also ran the anchor leg on Big Timber’s winning 400- and 1,600-meter teams. Gunlikson is currently ranked No. 1 in Class B in the 100 and 200, and is No. 1 in Montana in the 300 hurdles.
Shepherd finished third with 52 points, with Roberts finishing as the top Class C team with 46.5 points.
Colstrip’s girls dominated their team race, scoring 93.5 points to almost double-up the rest of the field. Whitney Hanson won the 800- and 1,600-meter runs, and ran on the Fillies’ wining 1,600 relay team.
Winnett-Grass Range’s Zoe Delaney, meanwhile, won all three sprints – the 100, 200, and 400 meters, including a new PR of 12.86 in the 100.
Three Forks finished second with 50 points thanks to three field event wins (high jump, long jump, triple jump). Columbus finished third, with Shepherd and Roundup tying for fourth.
