DEER LODGE — One of the state’s best throwers is getting some well-deserved recognition.
Ariel Clark, the owner of Class B’s longest throw in the shot put, officially signed on to join the Montana Grizzlies in front of dozens of friends, family, and faculty on Friday afternoon. Clark’s personal-best throw of 39 feet, 1 inch is 11 inches ahead of the second-best throw in Class B this spring, which belongs to her teammate, Amy Fjell-Hagan.
Although she is relieved to make a decision on where she will be throwing next season, she still has a state title to chase at the high school level.
“My goal is to get over 40 (feet in the shot put) and definitely win a shot put state title,” she said.
Clark has not qualified for state in the discus, but that is another one of her main goals as she closes out her final year in Deer Lodge.
