HELENA — Heather Sikoski enjoys playing in the Capital City.

The defending State AA champion won her second straight singles title at the Helena Tennis Invite, one of the most competitive tournaments of the season. Sikoski defeated Gigi Montague of Billings Senior in the finale. Sikoski earned victories over Sentinel’s Meredith Murdock in the opening round, Glacier’s Maria Frampton in the quarterfinals and Helena High’s Pilar Santos in the semifinals before defeating Montague.

Great Falls CMR’s Mackenzie George defeated Santos in the consolation match on Saturday.

Billings Skyview’s Aidan Binau captured the boys singles championship, defeating Helena High’s Cory Bowlby 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. Bowlby is the defending Class AA state runner-up, earning the same second-place honors in the Helena Invite last spring.

Kalispell Glacier’s Rory Smith picked up a 6-1, 6-0 consolation victory against Billings Senior’s Jesse Dimich-Louvet.

Missoula Sentinel juniors Cody Curtis and Ethan Violette continued their dominance in the doubles ranks, cruising through the No. 1 bracket for a championship win over Garden City rivals Cole Tolleson-Knee and Jesse Howard of Missoula Hellgate. Curtis and Violette won the match 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 6-3.

Missoula Hellgate earned revenge in the girls doubles championship, with Olivia Panarella and Hannah Worden grabbing a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over Billings Senior’s Annie Woods and Kenzy Gilsdorf.

Defending state champions Bridget and Fiona Powers of Helena Capital finished third in the girls doubles bracket.
