COLUMBUS — The Huntley Project girls pulled away from rival Red Lodge, running away with the girls team title at Thursday’s Snowflake Meet. The Townsend boys edged Forsyth and Roberts to win the boys team crown.

Emily Poole won all three throwing events for the Red Devils — heaving the javelin 139-01, the discus 120-01 and the shot-put 34-00.50 — to score 30 of Huntley Project’s 95 points. Poole hit state qualifying marks in the javelin and discus on Thursday.

Huntley Project also picked up individual wins from Kamille Reynolds in the triple jump (32-11) and Alana Graves in the 200-meter dash (27.72). Chantel Chase earned runner-up honors in the 200 with a time of 28.26.

Team runner-up Red Lodge saw Riki Poore win the 300-meter hurdles in 50.04. The Rams also won the long relay in 4:34.91.

Plenty Coups’ distance star Lena Standoverbull won all three of her races — the 800-meter run (1:03.93), 1600-meter run (6:07.91) and two-mile race (13:29.18). Joliet’s Kallie Zinne placed first in the high jump (5-03) and long jump (15-06.75) for 20 individual points.

The Townsend boys won only two events — Kameron Rauser’s 54.31 in the 400-meter dash and Tyson Racht’s 16.35 in the 110-meter hurdles — but the Bulldogs racked up 79 points to hold off Forsyth (62) and Roberts (60.33). Zane Newman added a second-place finish in the 400, while Townsend placed four in the 110-meter hurdles, including Rauser, Newman and Louis Ingalls.

Caleb Knoche paced Forsyth with his 43.51 to win the 300-meter hurdles. He also finished runner-up to Racht in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a 16.35, 0.01 behind the Townsend Bulldog. The Dogies also took each relay, winning the 4×100-meter relay in 45.38. Forsyth’s 3:37.42 was five seconds better than Townsend in the long relay.

Big Timber’s Casey Gunlikson swept the sprints, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.3 and taking the 200 in 23.14. Each was a state qualifying time for the Herders’ standout. Roberts’ Alexander Kosel won the high jump (6-02) and long jump (21-01.25), hitting state qualifying standards in each. Melstone’s Brody Grebe leapt 44-02 in the triple jump for a Class C qualifying mark.
