BILLINGS – The 2018 high school track & field season got underway Thursday at three different meets across Yellowstone County.

Billings Skyview hosted Helena Capital and Great Falls CMR. CMR’s Damien Nelson showed he’s still the sprinter to beat in Class AA, winning the 100 meters and running the anchor leg on the Rustlers’ winning 4×100 team.

Billings West also hosted a triangular, with crosstown rival Billings Senior and Great Falls High. Senior’s Tiahna Vladic won the 1600 meters in 5:13.91, easily beating the State AA qualifying standard. She’ll be a favorite in the distance races once again.

West’s girls won the 4×100 relay in 50.71 seconds. The Bears set the all-class record in the event at the State AA meet last year in 48.18.

Three Eastern A teams also got their seasons underway, with Laurel hosting Central and Hardin. Park City was also on hand at the quad meet.
