Missoula Sentinel and Florence both opened the high school softball season with victories on Tuesday.
Sentinel and Frenchtown traded runs through the first five innings, but the Class AA Spartans pulled away for a 12-6 win over the Class A Broncs.
Defending Class B champ Florence shut out conference rival St. Ignatius-Arlee-Charlo, 10-0. Shannon Byrne pitched a shutout for the Falcons.
