Trey Tintinger, Bryn Morley highlight list of returning state track champions

The 2018 track and field season gets started Thursday, and fans will recognize a few 2017 state champions returning this season. Athletes like Trey Tintinger of Helena High and Bryn Morley of Bigfork return to defend their state titles, but we’ll see plenty of new faces emerge over the course of the season.

New champions will be crowned in May as outgoing seniors claimed the 2017 titles across the board in the boys distance races, hurdles and javelin and girls javelin. The State AA and C meets will be held at Great Falls May 25-26, while Laurel will host the State A and B meets the same days. To view the state qualifying standards for each class, please click here.

Mark Estes, who won Class C state titles in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter runs while at Drummond last year, will lace up the cleats against Class AA competition this spring. The future Montana State football player transferred to Kalispell Glacier last summer.

Billings West, Sidney, Fairfield and Ennis are the defending boys team champions. West is seeking its third consecutive Class AA state title, while Ennis is chasing its fourth State C championship.

Missoula Sentinel, Belgrade, Bigfork and Fort Benton will look to defend their team titles on the girls side.
