BOZEMAN — Dozens of family and friends packed the Bozeman International Airport to greet Three Forks athlete Gavin Foth on Wednesday afternoon.
The multi-sport athlete underwent 170 days of treatment and rehabilitation following an ATV accident in September that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Foth has spent most of that time at Craig Hospital in Denver, unable to talk, swallow, move, or breathe on his own at the beginning of his stay. The 16-year-old has come a long way in his recovery, controlling his chair through the automatic doors, before talking and smiling with those closest to him on Wednesday.
He and his family now begin the next chapter in his progression, adjusting to life at home without doctors. A coming home celebration/fundraiser for Gavin will be held in Manhattan on May 12.
