KALISPELL — The Kalispell Flathead Braves boys basketball team has had a successful season so far with an overall record of 13-7. Recently, one of their senior standouts reached a big accomplishment, scoring his 1,000th career point.

“It’s just capped off such a fun high school career, and just showing how much I love basketball and being around people,” Flathead senior Tyler Johnson said.

On Saturday, Johnson racked up 24 points against Missoula Sentinel as Flathead went on to get the big win 65-62. Johnson continued his dominance from beyond the arc and has Flathead rolling into the playoffs on a hot streak.

Johnson says the accomplishment is big for him, but also says he couldn’t have done it alone.

“I credit it to the great coaching I’ve had all four years and the amazing teammates that helped me through everything. I mean, it’s not just an accomplishment for me; it’s an accomplishment for the whole team,” Johnson said.

Flathead cliched the third seed after its crosstown win over Glacier last week. The Braves will play Helena on Thursday.
