BILLINGS – The Havre Blue Ponies girls basketball team had a great night last night. Havre triumphed over Hardin in the Eastern A divisional championship 42-34 down in Billings. The two teams also met in the title game last year, but Hardin won that one, so the Blue Ponies sought out some payback. Kyndall Keller scored 13 of the Blue Ponies’ first 15 points, the team never relinquished its lead the entire game.
“I’m real proud of them. Total team effort, we’ve been preaching that all year,” said head coach Dustin Kraske. “The kids have bought into it, it takes all of us to win. Three games in four days, it’s grueling. Not everybody played their best tonight but it took all of us to trust each other to play our best to win a championship. I’m real proud of our kids.”
The win moves Havre to an eye-opening 21-0 on the season. The team will be the East’s Number 1 seed and will play Hamilton in the first round at the State A girls tournament in Great Falls on March 8th.
