WORDEN – The Roundup Panthers girls basketball team is heading to the Southern B divisional tournament after defeating top-seeded Columbus 33-25 in the District 4B challenge game on Monday night.

Nerves were the common theme in the first half as the teams combined for only 21 points at halftime. Roundup led after the first 16 minutes of action 13-8.

The teams found their footing in the second half, though. McKenna Sealey and Savanna Wolff hit back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half and the Panthers lead quickly ballooned to nine at 19-10.

Columbus would answer right back. Morgan Kirch drove the lane, converted the basket and heard the whistle for the old-fashioned 3-point play and the Lady Cougars pulled within five points.

That was as close as they would get though. Sealey snuck inside for two buckets to begin the fourth and the party was on for Roundup.

The Panthers opened up their largest lead of the night at 27-15 with about two minutes to play before holding on for the eight-point win.

The Southern B divisional tournament runs from March 1-3 in Billings.
