Simms girls top Great Falls Central in overtime, Heart Butte boys roll to 10C title

SHELBY – The Simms girls won the rubber match with defending Distict 10C champ Great Falls Central, but needed overtime to do it. Tied at 54 at the end of regulation, the Tigers outscored the Mustangs 9-2 in the extra period for a 63-56 win.

Janessa Willekes scored 28 points for the Tigers and her sister Elyssa Willekes added 19. Brynn Anderson led Central with 15 points.

In the boys final, Heart Butte led from wire to wire in another dominant 61-43 win over Sunburst. The Refiners led 6-4 after the first quarter, but the Warriors exploded for 26 points in the second for a 30-19 halftime lead.

Shylon Spoonhunter scored 27 points to keep the Warriors undefeated. Treyton Pickering led the Refiners with 17 points.
