RONAN – Ronan’s boys basketball team struggled down the stretch in the regular season, but the Chiefs brought their best to the Northwest A tournament.

Ronan shocked top-seeded Browning in the district semifinals, 72-50, on Friday. The two teams remained within a few points until the fourth quarter. Then the No. 5 seed pulled away for the upset. Anthony Camel went crazy for 37 points for the Chiefs. Tyree Whitcomb scored 30 in a loss for the Indians.

Polson avoided the same upset in the late semifinal. The No. 2-seed Pirates held off No. 3 Libby 59-50. Shade Main led Polson with 17 points. Ryggs Johnston scored 25 in defeat for the Loggers.

Rivals Polson and Ronan will now meet for the Northwest A title at 8 p.m. Saturday. Polson swept the two meetings in the regular season.
