Records broken during Day 1 of MHSA state swim meet

GREAT FALLS – A few records were broken during Day 1 of the MHSA state swim meet at Great Falls High on Friday.

For the girls 50-yard freestyle, Butte’s Catherine Russo won with a time of 23.05 seconds, a new state record. Russo also won the girls 100-yard butterfly event with another state record of 55.69 seconds.

For the boys 50-yard freestyle, another state record was broken. Kalispell Flathead’s Jamie Bouda clocked in at 20.67 seconds. For the girls 100-yard freesty, Missoula Hellgate’s Katharine Berkoff dominated in 50.79 seconds and a new state record.

Day 2 of the MHSA state swim meet will continue on Saturday at 11 a.m.
