MISSOULA — Missoula Big Sky’s boys basketball team gave crosstown rival Sentinel all the Spartans could handle on Thursday, but Sentinel eventually stabilized for a 58-50 win to set up the Western AA sweep.

The Eagles, who have yet to win a game this season, stayed with third-ranked Sentinel much of the way, cutting the deficit to just three points going to the fourth quarter. Sam Beighle and the Spartans were too much down the stretch, though, outscoring the Eagles by five points in the pivotal fourth quarter.

Beighle finished with a game-high 21 points, while Jordan Casselman led Big Sky with 17.

The girls’ game wasn’t nearly as close, as top-ranked Sentinel ran past Big Sky for an 83-42 win.
