Girls basketball power polls: Hardin, Townsend slip after narrow losses

This week’s MontanaSports.com high school girls basketball power polls underwent only small changes, despite losses by multiple top-five teams. In fact, Ennis, by virtue of its non-conference loss to Twin Bridges, was the only team to fall out of the rankings from last week.

Hardin and Townsend also suffered losses, but both teams stayed in their respective polls. The Bulldogs lost a close game to Billings Central at Rimrock Auto Arena on Saturday, while Townsend lost at top-ranked Three Forks. Both teams slipped in this week’s rankings — Hardin to No. 4 in Class A and Townsend to No. 5 in Class B.

With Ennis slipping from the top five, another Eastern C team makes its debut in the rankings. Plentywood makes its first appearance at No. 5, behind unbeaten teams Box Elder, Belt, Savage and Harlowton. Both Box Elder and Belt had to rally for come-from-behind wins to keep their perfect records intact last week.

The Class AA rankings went unchanged from last week, with Missoula Sentinel still leading the way. Havre and Three Forks also kept their No. 1 rankings in Classes A and B, respectively. The entire MontanaSports.com girls basketball power polls are below. Please click here for the boys rankings.
