Feller provides spark as Helena High girls blast Missoula Hellgate

HELENA — Emily Feller scored 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting as the Helena High girls basketball team defeated Missoula Hellgate 57-20 on Saturday evening.

Feller provided some spark to the Bengals, who found themselves in a tight game early in the Western AA conference game. She added three rebounds and three steals for the defending champions.

Jamie Pickens tallied another double-double, scoring 12 points and hauling in 13 rebounds. The all-state forward struggled from the floor, making just one of eight 2-point field goals, but hit a pair of 3s and knocked down all four of her free throws. Pickens added four steals, three assists and a pair of blocks.

Kamden Hilborn had eight points, six assists and five steals for the Bengals.

Hellgate stuck with the champs early on, but Helena opened a 13-5 advantage after the first quarter. The Bengals hung 36 points on the scoreboard in the second and third periods.

The Knights made only six of 35 field goals in the loss.

Helena High improved to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in Western AA play. Hellgate dropped to 3-9, 1-5.
