Sullivan, Gross, Lindbo guide Helena Capital girls past Missoula Hellgate

MISSOULA — Taylor Sullivan scored a game-high 15 points and added eight rebounds as Helena Capital raced past Missoula Hellgate 72-30 on Thursday evening. The Bruins improved to 10-1 overall and 4-1 in the Western AA with the win.

Sullivan hit six of 14 field goals for Capital, which saw Megan Lindbo make seven of eight from the free throw line to chip in with 10 points. Kacie Gross added 11 points and six rebounds for the Bruins.

Capital led 19-14 after the opening quarter before pouring in 23 points in the second period, while limiting Hellgate to only six. The Bruins outscored the Knights 30-10 in the second half, including a 16-2 margin in the final period.

Bill Pilgeram’s squad, which was ranked No. 1 in the state until Saturday’s loss to Missoula Sentinel, shot 46 percent from the field and made 19 free throws in the win. The Bruins outrebounded the Knights 49-20, while forcing 17 Hellgate turnovers.

Kylie Lunday led Hellgate with 11 points in the loss. The Knights fell to 3-8, 1-4.
