HELENA – There are two weeks left in the high school wrestling season, and this is the time things get really interesting.

This weekend the Helena High grapplers are heading out to Kalispell for the seeding tournament to determine their spots at the state wrestling tournament Feb. 9 out in Billings. The Bengals should have a pretty good chance of locking up some top spots between senior Austin Murphy and juniors Isaac Romero and Devin Crawford.

“Make sure you’re wrestling smart,” said Romero. “You’re wrestling heavy. You’re wrestling mean, you’re not being nice out there. You got to grit your teeth and get down.”

“They know we’ve been training the entire time for these two weeks,” added head coach John Burke. “Sometimes earlier in the year we might be a little tired when we enter these tournaments because we’re training super hard with the focus on these two weeks. They’re ready to go I think.”

“You’re going to see where you place, how you rank on your side, what seed you’re going to be, which is pretty exciting,” said Crawford.

“Last two weeks of the season, it’s what we’ve been working for all year so it’s good that it’s here. Everyone’s ready, ready to go, ready to roll,” said Murphy. “We’re excited.”
