KALISPELL and MISSOULA – Missoula Sentinel entered the night with two teams both ranked No. 1 in the state. One proved they deserve the ranking, while the other suffered a rare setback.
Kalispell Flathead’s boys upset top-ranked Sentinel 56-48. The Braves held a slim advantage for most of the night. Sentinel took a brief lead in the fourth quarter, but the Spartans failed to score over the final five minutes, and the Braves slowly pulled away for the victory.
Flathead improves to 3-2 in the Western AA standings, while handing 4-1 Sentinel its first conference loss and first loss overall since before Christmas.
In the girls meeting in Missoula, the Spartans built a huge lead quickly and never let the Bravettes in the game. Sentinel won 62-24.
The Spartans are now 5-0 and leading the Western AA. Flathead falls to 2-3 in league play.
