SUPERIOR – The Clark Fork Mountain Cats, a co-op made up of girls from Alberton and Superior, are having a phenomenal season.

The girls basketball team remains undefeated this season, running their record to a 14-0 mark.

“(It) feels pretty darn good,” said senior Madison Lommen. “I think that we’ve come a long way and this is, we’ve worked really hard for this.”

“I think we’re going to go really far this year,” agreed teammate Montana Baughman. “I think we work really well as a team, so we’re going to get farther than last year hopefully.”

The girls spent the summer working hard to not only get to know each other on the court, but off the court, as well. They bonded over basketball camps over the summer under head coach Jeff Shultz. The team says they’re happy with how they’re performing but it wasn’t easy getting here.

“Stressful at times, but over the last year I’ve learned a lot of leadership from my coach and my other teammates, so it’s kind of natural now,” said Makenzie Mueller.

“I think if we can’t figure out one thing we move onto another, so it works well as a team,” said Hailey Kelly.

Coach Shultz says they’ve got their eyes on the prize and hope to go all the way.
