BILLINGS – Laurel’s girls weren’t going to let Kola Bad Bear beat them. So Billings Senior’s other starters proved they could.
Samantha Bonenberger scored a game-high 20 points as Senior defeated Laurel, 56-44, Saturday night to run their winning streak to eight games.
The Broncs scored a majority of their points from outside the paint in a game where Laurel played a tightly packed zone defense to keep the ball out of Bad Bear’s hands.
Senior is now 10-1 overall.
The Locomotive boys turned the tables earlier Saturday afternoon, jumping out to a 14-point halftime lead en route to a surprising 62-53 win at Senior.
The Broncs chipped away at the lead in the second half and thought they had closed the gap to two with under three minutes to play on a Slade Cobb dunk, but Cobb was whistled for travelling before the basket, and Laurel pulled away from there.
Laurel moves to 8-6 with the win, while Senior falls to 7-4.
