BILLINGS – The Billings Central boys will hold this over Billings West for a long time.
Sam Gray and Liam Clancy scored 10 straight points to give the Rams a late fourth-quarter lead, as Central completed a season sweep of the Bears, 67-66, Saturday night in the Golden Dome.
West took the lead early in the second quarter and didn’t trail until Clancy hit a 3-pointer with 2:30 to play, giving Central a 58-56 lead. Moments earlier, Gray hit four straight free throws to pull the Rams within one.
West had the ball down 65-63 with 10 seconds left, but Chrishon Dixon forced a Jesse Owens turnover and Gray hit two more free throws to seal the win.
Central also beat West back on Dec. 21, 61-45, at the Nelles Center.
West’s girls, meanwhile, completed a season sweep of their own, 53-35 at Central earlier Saturday.
The Rams were within two points, 17-15, after the first quarter, but West ballooned the lead to 28-20 by halftime and only gave up 15 total points after the break.
The Bears have now won nine of their past 10 games to move to 9-2 on the season.
