Matthew Amunrud sets Manhattan Christian records with 10 3s, 43 points

CHURCHILL — Matthew Amunrud had a night to remember for the Manhattan Christian Eagles on Saturday.

Amunrud, a senior guard, made 10 of 11 3-point attempts on his way to a school-record 43 points in the Eagles’ 90-38 boys basketball win over Absarokee. The 10 3-pointers are also the school’s single-game record.

Amunrd finished the game making 15 of his 20 field goal attempts and converting three of four free throw attempts. He added five steals for the Eagles, who also got double-digit scoring from Caleb Bellach (14 points) and Ryan Busch (12). Busch added a game-high seven rebounds.

Manhattan Christian led 28-15 after the first eight minutes and held a 52-29 advantage at halftime. The Eagles then outscored the visiting Huskies 22-4 in the third quarter and 16-5 in the fourth.

Manhattan Christian, which is ranked second in the MontanaSports.com Class C power poll, improved to 10-2 with the win. Both losses have come against Class B opponents.

Absarokee was led by Joaquin Pilcher’s 15 points.
