Girls basketball power polls: Box Elder leaps Belt in Class C

and last updated

The high school girls basketball schedule went mostly as expected this week, with higher-ranked teams taking care of business in both conference and non-league games.

Last week’s top-ranked teams all stayed unbeaten but the Class C courts will have a new No. 1. Box Elder, considered by many the most talented team in the class, leapfrogs two-time defending state champion Belt in this week’s polls. The Bears handled Chester-Joplin-Inverness and North Star, improving to 12-0 on the year.

The Class C polls did see some change, with Twin Bridges close loss against Ennis vaulting the Mustangs into the No. 5 spot. Savage and Harlowton each moved up, while Twin dropped out.

Dillon nearly cracked into the Class A poll after pushing undefeated Helena Capital in a 40-39 defeat. Columbia Falls’ win over Hamilton dropped the Broncs one, making way for Hardin to move up a spot.

Class B’s top five remains the same from last week after each team held court.
