Senior Day for Missoula swimmers

MISSOULA – Saturday was Senior Day for Missoula’s swim teams, and those athletes cut through the water like knives through butter.

364 kids from 16 different teams made a big splash at the Griz Pool Saturday afternoon. By the end of the day, nearly 900 races had been swam.

But there’s much more to these meets than competition. Over the course of the season, these teams get to know one another and strong friendships are forged. That’s especially true for Missoula’s teams, as Big Sky Senior Gabe Jourdonnais explains.

“All three schools will travel together and practice together, so I’ve made some awesome friends from Hellgate and Sentinel aalike, and it’s so cool the family we have,” he said. “It’s awesome. Today is a senior meet, it’s a really special day, and all the memories with all these people I’m here with. It’s been a heck of a ride and I’ve enjoyed all of it.”

Jourdonnais swims in the 100 yard butterfly. He came away with a time of 1:06.58.
