MISSOULA – Hellgate boys and girls tested this evening facing not a Missoula team, not even a Montana team. The Genesis Prep out of Post Falls Idaho came to town for a double header.
The girls got started with this one tonight. Jaguar Bella Murekatete grabs the rebound and hits the layup in traffic and Hellgate trails 7-11.
Kylie Lunday outnumbered here, but Hellgate works around the key until Lunday cuts through and drills the basket.
A steal from Kaitlin Olson leads to a full court run and easy layup for teammate Stephanie Wozniak and it’s tied at 35. This time, Wozniak passes to Shay Evans who gets the bounce pass to Lunday for this and 1 finish.
And the Knights girls defend the castle, they win this one 39-35.
After that Hellgate girls victory it was the boys turn to duke it out. Rollie Worster stumbles here but he finds teammate Logan Riddle in the corner with the assist to Abe Johnson. Here’s the jumper but Hellgate’s down 12-8.
2nd now, Jaguar Johnny Hillman drills the 3 to go up 15-8. Off the missed 3, Johnson fights for the tough board down low and finishes with the and 1.
Less than 30 seconds in the half, Bridger Deden makes a move, drives the lane and finishes with this layup. Genesis Prep leads 23-20 at the half. Hut Hellgate can’t keep up and the Jaguars take this one 56-48.
