As the conference season heats up, familiar faces continue to post significant performances on the Montana high school basketball courts this winter.
Each week, MTN Sports will update a list of the state’s “30-point club,” showcasing the performances of 30 points or more throughout the season.
No scoring output has matched that of Arlee’s Philip Malatare, who hit the 48-point mark against Seeley-Swan in December. But new faces crack this week’s updated list.
Lame Deer’s Michael Weaselbear poured in 35 against Forsyth last Friday, while Danny Hoisington of Thompson Falls had 34 the following night. Shelby’s TJ Reynolds scored 31 against Harlem and Caleb Hess (Winnett-Grass Range), Trent Mikalatos (Anaconda) and Damon Sadler (Poplar) each had games of 30 over the weekend.
On the girls side, Arlee superstar Alyssia Vanderburg dropped 31 points on St. Ignatius last Tuesday. Kola Bad Bear helped Billings Senior defeat Bozeman in overtime by scoring 30 on Saturday.
But the top performance of last week belonged to Power’s Jessie Maruska, who made 16 2-point field goals and totaled 38 points versus Augusta.
