CUT BANK – Scott Filius and the Havre High wrestling program added to their streak Saturday. The Blue Ponies won seven individual championships and a 16th straight Cut Bank Invitational team title. Havre tallied 306 points, routing runner-up Eureka (175) and third-place Lewistown (146).
Martin Wilkie was named the outstanding wrestler of the tournament after cruising through the 138-pound bracket. Wilkie won his first three matches by first-period pinfalls in a combined 3:51 and topped Trey Simanton of Malta 12-0 in the title match.
Havre’s Mick Chagnon made short work of the 103-pound bracket to help set the tone for the Blue Ponies. Chagnon pinned four straight opponents, including a 38-second pin over Jackson Carson of Whitefish for the title.
Cameron Pleninger pinned Fairfield’s Dylan Riphenburg in 2:28 for the 113-pound championship, while Mark Ramirez won by fall against Valier’s Tanner VandenBos at 126. The Ponies added individual titlists at 132 pounds (Lane Paulson), 145 pounds (Connor Harris) and 205 pounds (Tyler Schaub).
Lincoln, the defending Class B state champion, earned individual championships from Montana Grizzly football commit Garrett Graves (182 pounds) and Jonathan Schmidt (160 pounds). Nathan Schmidt also won at 120 pounds for the Lions.
