Great Falls High boys pull away late against Helena Capital

GREAT FALLS — Blake Thelen scored 13 points to lead a balanced Great Falls High attack in a 50-40 win over Helena Capital on Tuesday night at Swarthout Fieldhouse. Kendal Kynett added 12, Kevin Boes and Hunter McKinney scored 11 apiece.

Capital (1-3) led 24-21 at halftime and the teams were tied at 33 apiece after the third quarter, but a 17-7 scoring advantage in the final frame lifted the Bison to their fifth win of the season. Great Falls High (5-1) will open Eastern AA play against Butte on Friday.

Parker Johnston led the Bruins with seven points. Brady Martin and Mark Northey each scored six points.
