Manhattan Christian defeats Gardiner to advance to divisional championship

CHURCHILL - The Manhattan Christian volleyball team advanced to the Western C divisional championship after taking down Gardiner 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 25-18) in Friday night's undefeated semifinal at the Memorial Events Center.

With the victory, the Eagles have officially punched their ticket to the state tournament next week at Montana State University. MCHS' Kiersten Van Kirk paced the Eagles with 13 kills, while Eliana Kuperus was on lockdown defense, recording four blocks.

For Gardiner, Josie Thomas registered 13 kills and Chase Cunningham led all players with 37 assists in the contest.

Manhattan Christian moves on to Saturday's championship game at noon.
