RONAN -- On Friday night the Western A girls semifinal games were decided with the winners moving on to the championship game on Saturday and securing their spot at the state tournament in two weeks.

Corvallis Blue Devils 41, Whitefish Bulldogs 23

From the opening tip-off it was all Blue Devils in this one. In the first quarter, Corvallis came out with the momentum as they outscored the Bulldogs 12-7 behind four, first quarter points from Isabell Evans. In the second quarter, Corvallis started to pull away from Whitefish as they scored 15 points to the Bulldogs four and took a 27-11 lead into the half.

In the second half, Corvallis slowed down scoring only five points in the third quarter, but held Whitefish to just seven of their own. In the fourth it was another slow offensive quarter, but Corvallis outscored Whitefish again 9-5 to secure the win and secure a spot in Saturday's championship game.

As a team, Corvallis shot 12 for 45 (26 percent) from the field and 3 for 9 (33 percent) from three-point range. Hannah Hutchinson lead all scorers with 15 points on 3 for 9 (33 percent) from the field and 3 for 4 (75 percent) from beyond the arc.

Hope Brown lead the Bulldogs with eight points on 3 for 8 (38 percent) shooting from the field.

Hamilton Broncs 43, Frenchtown Broncs 39

It was the battle of the two Broncs in the second and last girls semifinal on the night. In the first quarter both teams came out scoring and trading leads back and forth. Hamilton took a 7-4 lead after Abby Johnson nailed a three with just under three minutes left in the first quarter.

Frenchtown answered all night long though, as Kiya Shelton gave Frenchtown a 9-7 lead with one minute left in the quarter on a three ball.

In the end, Hamilton won 43-39 and moved on to the divisional championship game against Corvallis.
