State A girls: Dillon, Browning stay alive in loser-out play

BILLINGS — Dillon and Browning's hopes of a State A basketball trophy are still alive, after both won loser-out games Friday morning inside First Interstate Arena.

Dillon 45, Hamilton 39

Dillon jumped out to a 12-1 lead after the 1st quarter and held off Hamilton down the stretch in a 45-39 win.

The Beavers led 21-4 early in the 2nd before the Broncs began their comeback. Hamilton closed to within 29-27 after the 3rd and would briefly take the lead in the 4th before running out of gas.

Tylia DeJohn led Dillon with 13 points while Josey Jones added 10. Layne Kearns led Hamilton with 11.

Browning 48, Corvallis 41

Browning used a dominant 1st half, racing out to a 32-17 lead on their way to a 48-41 win over Corvallis.

Tatum Running Crane led a balanced Indians effort, scoring 11 points while Tamika Guardipee added 10 and Dulci Skunkcap had nine.

Isabel Evans double-doubled for Corvallis with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Madeline Gilder added 11 points. The Blue Devils however shot just 27.3% from the field (12-44 FG).

NEXT: Dillon awaits the loser between Hardin and Livingston in a loser-out game Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at First Interstate Arena, while Browning will play the loser of the Billings Central-Havre game at Billings Skyview at 10:30 a.m.
