Simms girls grind out win, boys complete sweep of Augusta

AUGUSTA — Janessa Willekes scored 26 points and Taylee Sawyer added 13 as the Simms girls beat Augusta 56-55 on Friday.

Augusta led 31-20 at halftime, but Willekes gave Simms a 52-50 lead with a 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter. Simms improves to 9-4 overall, 7-3 in District 10-C play.

Olivia Isakson scored 20 for the Elks, who suffer just their first conference loss of the year. Augusta falls to 11-2, 9-1.

The Simms boys built a 24-point lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 75-20 win over Augusta.

Four Tigers reached double digits in the scoring column, led by Kaiden Thibert with 17. Simms improves to 12-1, 9-0. Augusta falls to 0-13, 0-10.
