CHURCHILL -- Manhattan Christian's boys and girls basketball teams both picked up wins against rival Manhattan on Friday night at the Memorial Events Center in Churchill.

Trailing 15-5 after the first quarter, the Eagles girls team went on a 20-5 run in the second and never looked back, as they defeated the Tigers 50-42. Eliana Kuperus has been a driving force in Manhattan Christian's success, as the junior had 12 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Kiersten Van Kirk followed with eight points for MCHS.

Jasmine Grossman led the way for Manhattan with 14 points and shooting 3 for 5 from beyond the arc.

The Manhattan Christian boys team followed the girls game with a 71-53 victory to sweep the Tigers. Sam Leep exploded for a game-high 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field. He also recorded three assists and three steals. Caidin Hill scored ten points while adding six assists in the win.

Manhattan's Caden Holgate finished with a team-high 15 points, while his teammate Evan Douma scored 11 and pulled down six boards.
