Eastern A: Billings Central, Havre girls cruise into semis

BILLINGS — The Billings Central and Havre girls were dominant on their way to first-round wins at the Eastern A divisional tournament Thursday at First Interstate Arena.

Central 63, Sidney 23

Central's girls outscored Sidney 26-2 in the second quarter on their way to a 63-23 win in the day's first girls game. Mya Hansen scored 19 points -- 17 in the first half -- to lead the Rams, while Isabelle Erickson had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The win moves Central to 16-2 on the year.

Havre 59, Livingston 32

Havre and Livingston played a similar game in the second girls contest. The Blue Ponies won the second quarter 18-4 on their way to a 33-9 halftime lead before coasting to a 59-32 win.

Kyndall Keller led a balanced attack with 13 points. Kadia Miller and Jessa Chvilicek added nine points each, while Miller chipped in 12 rebounds.

Havre has now won 17 straight games and is 18-1 on the year with the only loss coming at Central in its second game of the season, 59-46.

The Rams and Blue Ponies will meet in Friday's second girls semifinal at 8 p.m. Sidney and Livingston fall into loser-out play.
