Colstrip boys, girls sweep Shepherd

The Colstrip boys and girls basketball teams went on the road and swept a doubleheader with Shepherd on Saturday afternoon. The Colstrip girls cruised to a 57-17 win, while the Colstrip boys pulled away from the Mustangs in the second half to win 56-46.

Colstrip 57, Shepherd 17 (Girls)

Colstrip left little doubt on Saturday afternoon.

The defending Southern B girls divisional champions blasted Shepherd 57-17 on Saturday to remain perfect on the season.

Colstrip led by 20 at the break and pushed that lead to 30 midway through the third quarter. The Fillies wore down Shepherd with a zone press that forced several turnovers leading to easy transition baskets for Colstrip.

Colstrip put two girls in double figures, as Bailey Egan had 15 points and Addison Casterline scored 14. Madison Big Back added nine points and Malea Egan had eight.

The Colstrip girls are in action again on Tuesday at Joliet. Shepherd will play Forsyth on Friday.

Colstrip 56, Shepherd 46 (Boys)

Colstrip's boys held off Shepherd in the nightcap, pulling away in the second half for a 56-46 victory.

Shepherd led 15-11 after one and the game was tied at 22 at halftime, but Colstrip held a six-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

The Colts put the game away with a 20-16 final period to improve to 4-2 overall. Shepherd falls to 3-4.

Colstrip will play Joliet on Tuesday. Shepherd will play Forsyth on Friday.
